I have a new computer! It is pretty and shiny and sexy and I named it Grayswandir because I'm a dork ^_^ yoohoo! Now, if I get time, I can catch up with BSG and House and finish creating my CtL character (okay maybe I need to find the way to have my printing machine works with my computer before that...); and you know, reinstall a bunch of things.

Computer news : I'll probably have to buy a new one. Good thing my parents still owed me a birthday gift. A friend (who helped identifying that the problem was either for the CPU or the motherboard) left me a laptop at my home so I get access to the internet ♥ I have nice friend :)

Poetry : Remember that poem I was looking for the other day? Well, found it! (I had a link somewhere in the comments of my journal, hah!)

Our Father Who Drowns the Birds
In memory of Nicaraguans killed by the Contras, 1980-1990.
By Barbara Kingsolver

There is a season when all wars end:
when the rains come.
When the landscape opens its own eyes
and laughs at your talk of dying.
When all the dead trees
open their hands
to the sky
and bleed scarlet flowers
from their fingertips,
and then you remember, before the blood,
red was the color you loved.

There is a season when every ancient anger
settles, conceding
to water the grass.
When nights are split by the bright
electric voices of your ancestors,
and the ones who owned your ancestros,
calling to one another
between earth and sky,
and all of the old grudges
fall, one by one,
on the roof of your house
sounding so much alike
they lull your babies to sleep.

My computer's down. Again. Fuck that, anytime yo fix any one thing, another thing breaks down. Entropy's a bitch. Expect me to be scarce online.

Been reading Last Argument of King. 'Tis pretty good so far.

Finished reading Shadowplay right before which was painfully slow and sometimes unintentionnaly funny; but yeah, Tad Williams still can write Fairies - if it's the only thing he can write. Got quite a disturbing trend of female victimization to this book though, I think it's intentionnal but it still comes out as disturbing. Then again, maybe I've just become more sensitive to this things.

So I've got my computer back and am currently re-installing a bunch of programs. I'll see about finding back all my links and stuff like this later. I always find this a bit depressing but I guess it's a good opportunity to clean up. Sometimes I can't believe the mass of junk one manages to amass on a harddrive.

I've got meself a brand new HD (my old ones being fried). Of the 60% data that they manage to rescue from the old comp, there were little of my currently used files which I hadn't bothering archiving somewhere yet. That especially means every doc files I was working on, draft of HP fics and the like, are all gone. ;_;
On the plus side, most of my big archives of video, images and music files are still there (except there was a LOT of music files I hadn't archived yet, so so much for them).

I think I'll also use the occasion to switch to firefox.

On the computer news front, they called to tell me they had managed to save 60% of my harddrive data! 60%! *weeps for the 40% MIA*

And meme from [info]a_white_rain!
Name a fandom. I will provide one thing that I actively seek in fanfiction, and one thing that I can't stand to see. Copy this meme to your journal.

Something Positive on Alan Moore.

Trufax.

(yes this is the second time in a few that I rec something for S*P. That's because this web comic is awesome and the one I've been following for the longuest time. Shut up.)

Now, in tales of my day to day life. You might remember my computer at home was broken. Now because I'm currently living at my parents' due to absence of showers at my home, I wasn't overly concerned with the lack of computer. However lots of stuff that could be useful are still on my computer, like the Photoshop program I could have used to make a pretty Bloody Valentine card today and old work in progress writing stuff.

So I've finally called someone to fix it. Guy asks about my Windows Licence. I kinda look hazy in answer, because all my installation, drivers and other v. serious CDs were left at my parents'. I say I'll look them up.

Back at Parental home, I soon realise something. The area I used to have those v. serious CD as well as v. v. old anime series CD (like the EVA series all in one CD with an image quality that makes You Tube videos look like HD) has undergone a serious restructuration and is now all GONE (I should have known that given that this is the place I've been living in for the last 4 monthes or so, I guess I'm not very observant). So I ask my father kindly where he put the CDs.

Father answers, kinda pissed off and haughty that I dare ask his help about something : there are no CDs. Even if there were CDs there would be at my home. He remembers giving me those CDs and the big brown boxes there were in.

Me, I have big brown boxes at home, but there's only DVDs and books in them, AFAIR, but I'm willing to check to make sure. Otherwise I'll have to buy back a windows licence for 80€, and would have lost all the ripped off programs like Photoshop I had along with my v. serious CDs. Yay.

So I go back home (1h30 to go from parents' home to my home), and of course I find nothing.

This time I'm pretty pissed off when I'm back at parent home (another 1h30) and demand to know what my father did of all the CDs. Father still doesn't remember anything and thinks maybe I never did have a Windows licence (he's the one who bought me the computer, it was a birthday gift), or something, but I do manage in covincing him to at least look up in the cellar.

Now, of course our cellar is a very big mess with lots of stuff hanging around half rotten in badly indicated boxes and dangerous piles of stuff with miraculous balance.

So we search, and search, and search (I find out my dad has hidden my RPG of Buffy!) and search and search. And we find it.

All my v. serious CDs (including some not relevant anymore to current state of computer) and v. old anime CDs and a bunch of miscelleanous kinds of CDs and my ripped off Photoshop one. (actually two of them, PS5 and PS7 both). In those same big brown boxes I also have home. Joy.

So now I've given my computer to be fixed and I hope I'll get it back today or tomorrow.

Conclusion : never ever ever trust your father. He knows not what he talks of.

I've almost finished with catching up with House. I'm also downloading Battlestar Galactica but it's taking time.

So what should I watch now?

And Happy Valentine to you all!

Well, all my plans for this week end were eventually cancelled in bac synchronisation, but no big deal, i could just read all those nifty new books.
Finished Thomas the Rhymer by Kushner, which, without surprise, was a gorgeous and wonderful book. Have to lend it to Aurel, I'm sure he'll find it inspiring for mastering more DA: Fae ;)
Also begun The Wildling... and i like the beginning, but will tell more when I finish it.

Did I mention Aurel gave me the Tokyo Babylon Photographs Art Book ? 'cause he did ! Isn't it grand ? All those nice, shiny, gorgeous pictures are all mine, mine, mine *danses* and they're even prettier in real than on scans.
From what he told me Aurel was into Clamp things when he was 15 and was still looking for his sexuality *lol* cue jokes about who would actually find their sexuality in Clamp works, cuz God knows Clamp characters have a very weird notion of love and relationships ;) Apparently now, he flees them Clamp works because he's scared of the pointy chins. Well, whatever, thanks to it, I'm now the owner of the Art Book in exchange for paying a restaurant meal, i'm rather happy of the deal.

On other news, my dad is trying to install a wifi conneciton between my computer and our modem so we won't have a cable hanging around the hall anymore. Sadly, my father is doing a messy job of it, and it's not working very well. And many blue screens have visited us. And I'm worried my computer is getting into a sulky mood. Where's Satsuki when you need her ?! So, my presence on the web is getting random, am afraid.
