thank you [info]tomboy_typist ^^

You post a "Top Five" topic, list, category, whatever, in my comments section (ie; "Five Times Littlefinger Lost An Argument" or "Five times Robing Goodfellow Didn't Bring Up His Sex Life"). Then, I'll post answer-drabbles to all your Top 5 ideas, according to me. Serious or fun! Feel free to post as many lists as you want, I'll use the ones that inspire me.

(you know there's a bunch of request I never fulfilled in previous years, and I still feel awfully guilty about them so 1/ no promises on this one 2/ my formal apologies to the people whose request I never wrote)

So Shae's pretty insistent that I do post that fic about her. It's a pretty weird fic, kinda meta I guess, but short, 500 words or so. Anyone want to beta it?

I miss writing.

I never feel able to. I feel like writing, and I want to play, and then I look up to the list of little drabbles and half-written drafts I have everywhere, and all the things I didn't write on time, and realises that, no, I can't do it, and it's depressing.

Maybe I just can't write fanfics anymore. I was never very confident about appropriating other characters - not because I think it's unethical, but because I have trouble finding their voice.

Or maybe not. Maybe I'm just too cowardly right now to write anything. Meh.

Ask me a question about one of my stories. It can be absolutely anything in any fic and I will tell you the honest-to-god answer. Don’t hold back.

&

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

List of my stories can be found here.

The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write in, and give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, Ancient Rome, etc). I will then explain what story from your chosen fandom I would write for your chosen type of AU.

The fic I wrote was :

Title: Wild flowers (Root Cutting Remix)
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters/Pairings: Neville, Augusta, OC
Summary: Flowers bloom, and children grow up.
Title, Author and URL of original story: Summer Roses by [info]msmoocow
Notes: Much love to [info]redcandle17 for the emergency beta work ♥

( Faked cut )

The fic I picked was very charming and lovely, developing an OC along with Neville. As a first experience at remixing this was interesting. I'm not sure I was re-appropriated the story enough although I did a couple of twist. I definitely liked having an occasion to write about Neville, who is a darling and whom I'd never written about before.

Resolution : I'm never participating to a fic exchange ever again. That way lies failure and self-loathing.

That said, [info]remixredux08 is pretty. I'm terribly in love with the fic remixed out of my fic :

Mirror Cipher (the All Other Angle call-response)
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Sybill, Dean, Dennis, Blaise, Draco, Molly, Lucius, Voldemort, Bellatrix
My original fic: Mirror

My own fic was about Narcissa, written very shortly after HBP's release, and a little bit of a rant about the (mis)characterization of Narcissa one could see in fandom as well as my own spin onto the myth of Narcissus and my fascination for mirror metaphores.
The remixer took the theme of identity, of identities built in the eyes of others and how we see others' idententities, and the motif of reflections, and ran away with it, spinning a beautiful mosaic of different characters echoing each others (and Narcissa) in a complex, multilayered and rather dark contemplation. The way the images, the voices and the theme are interwoven is nothing short of brillant. Worth reading, and re-reading. I also loved how she-or-he used artistic metaphores like negative space and photography

My own ending was a question. The remix is even more nihilistic, denying the core over and again. The camera only goes skin deep and there is no life here, only its static representation

Can't wait for the reveal to see who's writer this is and what else they've written.

Other Remix rec out of what I've seen so far :

By Any Other Name (The Fool's Paradise Remix)
Fandom: X-Men Movie
Characters: Mystique, Pyro, Magneto
Summary: If ye should lead her in a fool's paradise, as they say, it were a very gross kind of behaviour.
This fic takes Mystique after XM3 and... blows us with her. The writing is gorgeous and Mystique is awesome.

Goldfish Bowl (Glasshouse remix)
Fandom: X-Men Movie
Characters/Pairings: Bobby/Rogue, John, Logan
Summary: It's hard being normal in the goldfish bowl.
Not the kind of fic I often read, even when I read XMM (which is pretty rare in the first place ^^) but the characterisation and good writing really made this fic stood out.

How Long, Baby (Extended Dance Remix)
Fandom: Highlander
Character: Methos
Summary: In the beginning was the word. Then came the song.
The original was pretty cool in the first place, but I love the way the remix impart music into it. There's a love of words and rhythm both interwoven lovingly and beautifully; and through it Methos' voice stands out so clearly. Very nice.

Desert Time (Ordinary Time remix)
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Luke
Summary: In his years on Tatooine, Obi-Wan finds he has a lot to learn.
A remix of [info]imadra_blue's work, whose fics I adore, and this fic is definitly of an equal level. Luminescent writing, with an understated sense of pain and yet growing hope.

1. Which is your favorite fic?
Not sure. Maybe Their Game. It's less flawed than other fics I'm proud of.

2. Which is your best-received fic?
In terms of comments, either The Opposite of Love or Paper Cuts, but that may be biased by the fact exchange fics often recieve lots of comments. Also had a lot for the old Family Man. I think If at first you don't succeed is the one I see the most recced.

3. Which is your worst-received fic?
Relative pimping aside, Lightning Could Strike never did recieve any comment on LJ.

4. Which is your angsty-est fic?
The Opposite of Love is probably the darkest, but If at first you don't succeed might out-angst it.

5. Which is your funniest fic?
I'm still fond of Zoomorphism. In a crackful way there's Family Man. Recently ... killed the cat was very fun to write too.

6. Smuttiest?
New Era which I wrote recently might be the smuttiest in an objective way. In terms of sexual tension, no sex, I think I'm fonder of Psyche's Contemplation. There are more sexual fics, but they're grimmier than sexy, if you see what I mean.

7. Fluffiest?
Hah, as if I wrote fluff. *searches for the elusive fluffy fic*
Found it! Letter.

8. Have you ever made someone cry with a fic?
Been told so once, yes.

9. Which fic frustrates you the most?
The unfinished ones. I'm too ashamed to name them.

10. Which fic was the most fun to write?
The most mythological/fairy tales ones. Maybe The Last Babylon or the path to hell.

11. Who is your favorite OC you've ever created?
I don't have a lot of all out OC, there's the one in Ananke I suppose, which is... weird.

12. Are you better at oneshot or multipart?
Oneshot. I've yet to finish a multipart story.

13. What character do you think you're the best at portraying?
I don't know. Regulus? Narcissa? Seishirou?

14. What character is the most difficult to portray?
I don't know... maybe Remus or Subaru, they require the right state of mind.

I've streamlined my tagging system over at [info]la_mer_allee (and uploaded the oldest fics that weren't there yet, too), following onto [info]schemingreader's discussion over there. It was probably overkill since I already have a masterlist but heh ^^

It made me want to do stats with my fics ^_^ (Obviously I'm a dork)

I've signed up for the Remix Redux, something I've always wanted to do! I find the concept fascinating in a meta way. I think I was already eligible last year (if barely), but I had too much things to do at that time of the year. I'm excited! I hope I'll get something fun to remix, so many possibilities ♥

Who else is doing it? *looks around hopefully*

1. Fic posted over at my fic journal

Title: Psyche's Contemplation
Fandom: Avatar
Characters/Pairings: mild Azula/Zuko
Lenght: 510 words
Summary: When she had been a little girl, she had used to dream of what having the perfect big brother would be.

( Fake cut to fic )

2. There's a Vorkosigan fic over at [info]lmb_challenge by [info]katealaurel which depicts a missing scene of A Civil Campaign. It's got limericks. Read it. (Especially you, [info]busaikko ^^)

Wretched Matter

3. As I said I need to update my writing filter. So if you want to read posts where I blabber about fics which i may never finish, with beta requests and other whining about difficulties with challenges and ficathon, comment and ask to be added. If you were already in the filter and do not wish to be there anymore, comment and ask to be removed ^_^

4.) Which of my fics did you like best, and why?

I'm feeling kinda blue, ignored and lonely for no particulary good reasons. I hate that feeling. I don't mind melancholy and sadness in most cases, but feeling ignored is one of the thing I hate most.

I've finished uploading all my fics at what will now be my fanfic archive : my journal fen account. Also got my fanfic masterlist updated. Doesn't it look impressive, like this? Haha! it's only because there's so many drabbles and ficlets XD
I'm not sure what to do with my former fic journal for now. Right now I think I'll keep updating it with fics because anyway because not everyone has JF, and not everyone would comment on JF (and I do like comments, I do XD), and b'sides, I've got all a history of comments on [info]la_mer_allee which I don't want to lose. I suppose I could keep it as is (well save it for security), and post new fics on my regular journal. It's not like many people were reading my fic journal who weren't coming from my personnal journal. Any thoughts or advice on this?

So, since I've got all my masterlist updated, I thought it could be a good occasion to cheer myself up with a DVD commentary meme. Pick one of my fic which you were intrigued and ask me for a DVD commentary of it!
(Haven't uploaded the old DVD commentaries yet... #~@¤,*$ù,always something left to do...)

Dear Muse,

When I said "no" to the PotC / MtSS crossover, it wasn't so you would add Tim Powers and Corto Maltese, and reincarnation to the mix. I still can't write accents, am too lazy for research and if you really want an epic plotty story you better come up with the plot as well, 'cause I sure as hell won't by my own.

Yours,
Ete

Give me two characters from different fandoms you know I'm familiar with, and I'll give you a dialog happening between the two of them. Without justifying how the crossover would work, how their worlds clashed, or how they could even meet each other. Just a silly crossover conversation with no backstory, for fun.

You know you're reading one of my fic when :

1. There's only one chapter of it, and the sequel was never written. Or it's a very short one.

2. There's a sentence with two many 'and's in it.

3. It ends unhappily and abruptly.

4. There's some kind of mythological comparisons or reference or metaphore somewhere. Or many of them.

5. Everyone is bonking everyone in the Black family.

6. Love and hatred are very closely related. So is obsession.

7. Remus is very, very repressed about his feeling, and even more ruthless than Snape.

8. Sirius' in love with Jaime.

9. Remus was with Tonks for the sex, mostly.

10. Regulus worms in it someway

I don't have enough fics to do this meme, really >_>;;

I haven't written a full fic since last April. I've withdrawn from the Percy ficathon because I suck and I never went around posting anything for the Snupin Dark fic challenge, and while I've got half a dozens half written fics laying around I doubt I'll finish many of them. I've still got the femmegenficathon to write for, which I don't want to drop because I've got an idea and it's a Black family fic so it should be easy, but I think I need to flex my writing muscle.

So I'm taking drabble requests. Gimme a character or a pairing and a prompt, and roll the bones!
